About Hairy Goat
Hairy Goat is owned and operated by myself and I also use a back up network of experienced guides, photographers, travel and adventure enthusiasts. The photos that you see on this site were all taken by me in the course of travelling around the world. I was born in Australia, have been in the UK for 11 years, gained dual citizenship, and I still have the curiosity of a tourist. A fairly diverse background provides a unique range of skills and experiences, leaving me well placed to organise and deal with pretty much anything, especially the unexpected.
I have been a tour guide, coach driver and 4WD tour cook, plus done my share of inside jobs such as retail management, project management and administration, caring for the elderly, and even barmaiding. However, an outdoor lifestyle holds too much appeal, and I prefer to see something different every day. So now I concentrate on the things I love to do, namely exploring, travelling as much as possible, taking photos, and guiding tours. My favourite countries are Iceland, Namibia, Ethiopia and Australia. I think they are also among the most visually stunning and toughest environments to survive in.
My motto is “If you want something in life, either work for it, ask for it or take it. Don’t wait for it to come to you on a plate.”
Come on a Hairy Goat adventure for a couple of hours, whatever the weather. Life is too short to spend it watching tv.
See you soon!
Corinna
In July and August 2010, the daytime Hairy Goat London Photography Mystery Tour is held every day, and starts from the front of the Royal Exchange building (pictured right) at Bank tube station at 11am. Do you like walking around a city and discovering something that makes a great photo?
It can be statues, elaborate doors and lamp posts, headstones or interesting architectural features, reflections, hidden gardens and old churches. We all know where the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Cathedral and Trafalgar Square are, but London is full of other quirky and interesting photo opportunities and maybe you need someone to lead you to them. The digital camera has turned most of us into photographers, so if you have a few hours spare and want to discover new sights in London, join the London Photography Mystery Tours. You won’t know where you are going until we get there but I promise there will be something you haven’t seen before.
The good thing about a mystery tour is that the itinerary can vary dependent on the weather, the group demographics and interests. So even if the weather is lousy, it doesn't usually last long. Plus you'll learn something about the subject of your photo. and lots of other interesting things along the way. No two tours are the same, so you can come along more than once, twice or even three times and still see something different each time.
The London Photography Mystery Tours aren’t instructional photography lessons, but are for people who enjoy city exploration and taking photos. It's a fun, friendly, interactive tour. The guide will be wearing a red top with Hairy Goat written on the back. To make a booking, please email corinna@hairygoat.net or call Corinna on 07540 832771.

Walking & Photography Tours of the UK
These tour options will be available shortly!
UK walking and photography tours will commence from different locations and involve a guided walk between 20- 30km per day (dependent on terrain) from one lovely environment to another. All you need is comfortable clothing, a small daybag for your personal goodies, walking boots, hat, coat, drinking bottle, sunscreen and camera and we’ll supply the rest, including your lunch. We will transport your luggage from each place you stay to the next. So all you have to do is put one foot in front of another, take photos, enjoy the view and the company of other like-minded people and look forward to another lovely evening meal.
A reasonable level of fitness is required as the terrain will be varied, but you don’t need to be a mountain climber. Just bring your sense of adventure and humour and chat. Make sure your boots are worn in, as blisters from new boots will ruin your trip.
Maximum of 10 people per tour.

Update
March 2010
Brittany is continuing her studies at the Guildford School of Arts and is doing extremely well, generally achieving marks as good, if not better than her classmates. She's being kept extremely busy, but loves it. Good Luck to you Brittany and if anyone along the calibre of Hugh Jackman, Leonardo Di Caprio, Meryl Streep or Dame Judi or Dame Maggie drop by, don't forget your Auntie Corinna ;-)
NEWS FLASH!
Monday 3 August 2009
Hairy Goat is investing in the future of the Arts.
Having recently launched Hairy Goat, I understand the time, effort, money and sacrifice required to achieve a career in a field of established names and intense competition. It can be an incredible struggle and you need all the support you can get.
So today I am proud to announce the decision to become a patron of young and upcoming musical theatre performer Brittany Field. After a series of gruelling auditions Brittany has been accepted into the renowned Guildford School of Acting’s BA (Hons) Musical Theatre course.
Find out about Brittany’s quest to become a performer on London’s West End on her website www.brittanyfield.com or if you see Brittany out and about promoting Hairy Goat’s London Photography Mystery Tours, say “hi” and ask her about it personally.
Brittany will be keeping us up to date with news about her progress and who knows, one day Hairy Goat might be escorting tours to see her in a major London production.
Photo: Two Aussies ready to make an impact on London. Brittany and Corinna take Hairy Goat to Embankment on a sunny London morning.
P.S..And no, I'm not short!
London Photography Mystery Night Tour
I’m pleased to announce the London Photography Mystery Night Tour. Please note, the start times and locations vary not only from the Day Tour but on each tour.
You must have a tripod or once it gets dark all your photos are likely to be blurry. (if you don't have a tripod see the Tripod Hire section below) The Night Tours aren't instructional so please make sure you know how to change the Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO, plus how to turn your flash off. It's not necessary to know more than that as we tend to experiment, but it will certainly make you happier with the end results and take less time to achieve them.
Please dress for 3 hours in cold weather. I highly recommend a pair of gloves to keep your hands warm in between photos and locations!
For the night tours, bookings must be made in advance. Also, from April 2010, the price for night tours is £35 per person. Please send me an email if you are interested in attending. Once you confirm your attendance, a non-refundable deposit of £10 per person is required no later than 3 days prior to the tour and an invoice for £10 will be sent via Paypal with the balance to be paid on the night. Your place will be held once payment is received. The tour will only be cancelled if the weather makes the tour hazardous and the deposit can be used for an alternative date.
Tripod Hire: If you do not have a tripod and wish to participate in the Night tour, I have a Velbon CX540 tripod available to hire for £5 for the tour. It has a spriit level, and both quick release and screw on attachments, weight 1.5kg, extended height 152cm. Please let me know in advance if you require it on the night.
Sunset is very late during summer, which may create transport difficulties by the time a 3 hour tour finishes. If you wish to participate in a Night tour and no dates are listed around that time, please contact me. Personal tours can be arranged, but the minimum charge is £105 for the tour, which is the equivalent of 3 adults. Extra participants are charged accordingly.
Please double check your address when sending an email as I have been receiving emails, but am unable to respond due to the addresses being incorrect. Please also add your telephone number as it can make communications a little quicker.
Mailing List
If you would like to be kept updated when new photos are added to the Galleries or as extra tours are launched, please send an email via the Contact Page and you will be added to a mailing list.
Please double check your email address on the Contact page before sending.
Customer Feedback
New feature - To add or read a review on Trip advisor please click Hairy Goat London Photography Mystery Tour . Most reviews are now taking place on Trip Advisor and the Hairy Goat London Photography Mystery Tour is now rated 5th out 764 attractions in London!
I understand that potential customers can hesitate to do something different unless they can read or hear a "Stamp of Approval". For this reason, I have added the Customer Feedback page to the website. I can only hope you will read it, and if you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact me. I can also only add, that Hairy Goat isn't a huge company with unlimited capital, so if you wait too long to come on a tour, there just may not be a tour left to do.
The fee of £25 is more than the fee charged by other walking companies. However, Hairy Goat London Photography Mystery Tours are unique. Compared to the walking tour competitors, the tour is up to twice as long, consists of much smaller groups, is more personalised to client requirements, we don't run on a fixed itinerary and everyone receives individual attention. All previous customers have said that it was definitely worth £25 for 3 hours.
Faking claims of customer satisfaction is an appalling, but common practice which I abhor. But how do you verify what is true or false anyway? Written comments at least can be proved and I appreciate the customers who have made the effort to write, knowing full well Hairy Goat customers will want to read them. As soon as I receive any negative comments I promise I'll add them in too!
Most reviews are now coming in via Trip Advisor and I sincerely thank the clients who have taken the time to contribute. I've also just been added to my-london-guide.com and am on the Visit London website www.visitlondon.com shortly.
From my first customer!
Ian Riley on 26 July via email: I very much enjoyed to tour last week. Thanks for your time and expertise.
From Adam on 3rd Aug via email. Comments: Quick note to say thanks for the tour on Saturday. Very interesting and your knowledge of quirky London facts is impressive. Good luck for the future.
From Anne Lousie and Alby (representatives of a London hotel chain dealing with mainly Corporate clients) : This is definitely going into our client weekend packs. Why would you do any other tour?
From Mario : A £10 tip!!! (thanks very much Mario, that made my day!)
From Ilona (representative of a London Hotel chain) 5 Aug: Thanks a lot for showing us around the other day it gave us a great idea of what you are offering and we definitely will recommend you to our clients.
From Wajjid (US) ( verbally) on 17 Aug: This is the tour I'm going to tell my friends to do when they visit London.
From David (US) and Warren (verbally) on17 Aug: I've had the most wonderful afternoon and can you do a night photography tour? Can we take some brochures for friends?
From Kath and Tom (verbally) on 15 Aug: What you are offering is unique. There is nothing else like it. We're going to tell our friends that they need to do this tour and can we have some more brochures?
From John (verbally) 22nd Aug: I'm going to add this to the work newsletter, Trip Advisor and tell all my friends that are waiting , to do it too!
From Neil and Maurizio (verbally) 23 Aug: Keep it up as it's a great tour and in time it will be very successful and can you put our names down for a night time tour?
From Andrea and Owen (verbally) 24 Aug: I thought I knew London!. This is great and I'm going to send my parents on this as they will love it. I am also planning my 50th and a group tour would be a great idea as part of the celebrations.
From Serife (via email) 26 Aug: Thanks for an AWESOME tour and again on 10 Sept via email: If you suddenly find yourself with a day off, and can't bear the thought of chores, this is the tour for you! Despite being London-born, Corinna's tour showed me a whole new side to London that I would NEVER have come across alone. I'm not really a photographer, but I got a couple of handy tips on my way around and
thanks to Corinna's brilliant, friendly nature we even got to get a couple of shots in a building I never dreamed I could even get into!
This was such an entertaining day out and even though it was a bit overcast, I managed some great shots. Don't be put off by the weather, this tour is worth it come rain or shine!
From Nicola Johnson (via email) 30 Sept: I took the tour about a month ago and can highly recommend it! Amy was enthusiastic and very knowledgable about the history of London and took me to some great places to capture some unusual photos. I have previously lived in London for three years, and some of the places she showed me were completely new to me! It was great to have the opportunity to take photos of different places of interest in London rather than just the normal tourist traps. I will be spreading the word to all my friends that this is the tour to go on!!!! Thanks!
From Katie Best 7 October (via email): We really enjoyed the tour. Corinna is an inspiring and well-informed guide. Despite the fact that we have lived in London for nine years, we saw lots of places that we had never seen before, learnt lots of very interesting things and took some great photographs!
From Zoe and Shaun 22nd October - the Night Tour (via email): Well what can I say - we loved it! Thanks so much Corinna for showing us some of London's Hidden sights last night - we are still talking about it this morning and can't wait to show off our photos. You were so enthusiastic and the pace of the tour was great - slow enough for us DLSR beginners to fiddle with our cameras to get the right shot, but fast enough to keep it interesting. All interspersed with interesting facts and great historical knowledge. I will definitely book again! Thank you.
From William on 22nd Oct - the Night Tour (his second tour with Hairy Goat): I'll be back for another tour next time I'm in London.
From David McLean who did the tour with Amy - (via email): on 9 Nov - Just emailing to say thanks for an excellent afternoon . I haven’t yet had the photos developed but if there are any that look really interesting , I’ll let you have a copy ..
You asked for some comments / feedback….here goes . I very much enjoyed the areas of the City we visited and will certainly go back for a second look . I was especially pleased to hear about the old naval traditions/buildings around Tower Hill and Billingsgate . I enjoyed too the bits about the coffee shops , the trading companies and Lombard St . I liked the way you suggested possibilities for photos which made me look anew at some of the places I’d visited on previous occasions . On a personal note , I really enjoyed your company. You came across as someone who was really vivacious and full of life ! …and confident , too . I had fun .
We talked about books . The one I mentioned about Pepys was entitled “ Samuel Pepys …the unequalled self “ by Claire Tomalin . Excellent ! Who was the author of London Underground ??
One other thought ………as the nights draw in , a 1 .00pm start seems too late …the last 30 minutes or so were pretty gloomy for photography …..maybe a 12 o ‘ clock start would be better ??? What do you think ??
Anyway , all the best for your business !
A note: from Corinna: the tours will change again in December due to lack of daylight in the afternoon. I do hope some more of you will get out of bed for a morning tour!
From Yvonne via email on 19 Nov: Hi Corinna
I have been meaning to e-mail you to say thanks very much for your brilliant tour a few weeks ago. When we turned up the weather was so dull and drizzly, we wondered if there would be any tour happening at all. Full credit to you for forging ahead regardless and how the weather changed into lovely bursts of sunshine and that crisp almost-dusky sky at the end. Your passion for history and enthusiasm for all the photographic opportunities around us were infectious and I am delighted with the images I took on your tour. Also Dad had a great time, and was thrilled to have his first batch of photographs for a long time to look over and enjoy. We spent two evenings going over basic photo editing and he was surprised at how easy it is, I am really hoping that he will get back to taking photographs more regularly - your tour was such a lovely re-introduction to the whole field again for him - thank you.
Since January 2010, clients have written some wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor, so please refer to the site to read them.

Digital Camera Workshops and Mystery Tour combined.
Do you own a camera that is barely being used? Do you want to get your camera off Auto settings? Do you know a bit, but not enough to warrant the money you spent on your camera? And once you've learnt new skills do you want to practice them with with help nearby?
Gilly Walker and I will be running combined 1 day Workshops and Tours. These will consist of a 4 hour workshop, a break for lunch, and a 2 hour London Photography Mystery Tour. There are Beginner and Intermediate level workshops and in late August we'll be offering Night Photography and Location Workshops.
Hairy Goat has also now joined forces with another two very experienced photographers and tutors. Gilly Walker and I are pleased to welcome Andrea Norrington www.andrea-norrington.com and Alex Hare www.alexharephotography.com to the combined Workshop and Tours.
Andrea has 15 years experience teaching both film and digital photography and apart from currently teaching part-time, for the last two years has also been a tutor at the Open College of the Arts
Alex is a very experienced photographer and has been involved in photography presentations and training. He is successfully supplying consumer magazines and websites with his work.
For more information, please see the Workshops and Tour page. I've already been taking bookings, so don't wait around!
Summer tours
From 1st July to 31st August, I'll be holding the London Photography Mystery Tour every day at 11am. For September, there will still be tours every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. for the other months, . we'll have to wait and see how busy it is!
Fonmigo
I've recently heard about a fantastic service from a new company called Fonmigo. www.fonmigo.com It's something that many of my international clients could possibly benefit from, plus I'm sure we all know someone who is coming to the UK, whether it's for work or leisure.
Fonmigo provide travellers to the UK the possibility to stay connected mobilely to the internet and have a UK number while they are in the country, allowing them to avoid roaming cost, and providing them with assistance 24/7. It is the utmost user friendly service, and their customers will receive a Smartphone or a Mobile Wi-Fi device that are “ready to use”, already charged and with useful contacts on the go. It is also a carefree option, using pre-paid top up bundles tailored to the travellers needs at UK competitive prices, ensuring peace of mind and control over their communication expenses.
So rather than coming to the UK and using your phone or laptop sparely because the cost is too prohibitive, consider using Fonmigo's services. And if you mention Hairy Goat when booking it you'll get a 15% discount!
New Guides
Well, I've been so busy running around like a Hairy Goat, that now I've had to get some extra guides to help me out. So Amy and I would like to welcome Roger, James, Arianna and Mila to Hairy Goat and I know that they will be up to the standard that is keeping Hairy Goat at the top of the walking and photography tours in London.
Visit London Website
Hairy Goat has justjoined the Visit London website, the major London tourist website, which should help spread the word both within the UK and internationally. The listing is under Attractionns/Places To Go. (highly inappropriate location for a walking tour, but it's not my website!)
Trip Advisor
Recently, some of my clients have been kind enough to write brilliant reviews of the Hairy Goat London Photography Mystery Tour on Trip Advisor. It's now rated 5th out of 764 of on their Popularity Index for Things to do in London. Woohoo! As a result, I now know how many people look at this site and the impact it is having with increased visits to the Hairy Goat website. So it should be a pretty lively spring and summer! The tour group sizes will be kept low and the intention is once I consistently reach around 10 people per tour, another guide will be provided. That way it's still a very personal, interactive and fun experience.
Gilly Walker Photography
Gilly and her husband Geoff, have participated on several of my tours and she has rapidly become a source of ideas, discussion, support and a lovely friend. Gilly runs half day beginner workshops for digital camera owners, at what is probably the cheapest price you will find anywhere. Have a look at her website for examples of her photos.
Hubworking
I have been fortunate to establish a relationship with Hubworking, www.hubworking.net which is a company in London specialising in renting rooms or even just a desk to individuals or companies needing somewhere to work for the day/week or even longer and for very reasonable rates. They are in a couple of convenient locations, near Liverpool St station and also near Monument tube station. The Digital Camera Workshops and Mystery Tour will be held at their offices in Wormwood St, near Liverpool St station.
London Travel Deals
Recently I had the pleasure of taking Jamie, the owner of London Travel Deals, on a Mystery Tour. The idea wasn't to pat each other on the back on our respective ventures, but because Jamie actually wanted to get out and take more photos and see more of London. Fortunately he loved the tour and wrote a great review on his site, (always helpful in spreading the word!) but I'd also encourage you to look at his website as it is the start of something big. If you would like help in planning your trip to London, check out London Travel Deals www.londontraveldeals.co.uk as you will find it has so much helpful, personal information. And if you have any queries, he's able to help. So many people have helped me along the way with suggestions, ideas, advice and practical help, and also taking the time to write a review, so I'm really happy to return the favour. Good luck Jamie.

Extra dates will be added for workshops from mid September to December.
If you can get a minimum of 4 people together, personal workshops and tours can be arranged. It's a great idea for groups of friends, teams, schools or Corporate events.
